Grace's Hope Bracelet

$ 62.00

A Message from the Scheipe Family:

It has been one year since Grace was in a car accident that changed our lives. On that sunny Saturday day, October 1st, 2022 at 12:45pm, she and her four best friends were driving home from lunch. She was 17 years old and had just started her senior year. The car that Grace was a passenger in was broadsided by another vehicle causing their car to flip over on the roof. Grace didn’t have her seat belt on and  was thrown into the trunk of the vehicle. Grace suffered a rare injury to one of the blood vessels coming off of her aorta causing cardiac arrest.

Unfortunately, the first people on scene didn’t know how to perform CPR and the time Grace spent in cardiac arrest without oxygen caused her to suffer an anoxic brain injury.

Grace spent 5 1/2 weeks in the ICU at Parkland hospital in Dallas. She was then flown to Craig Hospital in Colorado for acute inpatient rehabilitation. Grace spent 4 months at Craig, returning home to Dallas on March 8th, 2023.

Since March 8th, Grace has been attending outpatient therapy five days a week where she has speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Every day after therapy, we take Grace for hyperbaric oxygen treatment for 90 minutes. We have also taken Grace to Austin twice for red light laser therapy and we just returned from Panama where Grace received 100 million stem cells from donor cord blood. All of this is to help her brain repair and recover.

Grace is cognitively 100% intact. She is able to communicate writing on a white board and answers physics and algebra problems. She has always been a smart girl! Grace has not regained her ability to talk yet and remains in a wheelchair, unable to walk.

The money already raised with the original “blue" Grace bracelet and the new “white” Grace's Hope bracelet will be used to teach CPR to high school kids and parents. We often think about how our circumstances may be different had someone started CPR immediately on Grace. My hope is that every person has the opportunity to learn how to perform CPR. You never know when you may be confronted with a situation in your community or home where knowing how to perform CPR can save someone’s life. The Scheipe Family thanks you for your continued support. 💙🤍

Wear this special bracelet in honor of Grace Scheipe. Glitter for Breakfast will donate 25% of sales of these bracelets to be used for the CPR Training.

The bracelet features a 14k gold plated white enamel heart charm dangling from a 14k gold filled 3mm bead bracelet.

To determine what bracelet size you should order, please measure your wrist tightly and add a half inch to that measurement. For example, if your wrist is 6" around, you should order a 6.5" bracelet.
